Twenty-five plus years of experience in corporate world  - Internal Auditor, Credit Manager, Compliance Officer, Operations Manager, and Professional Financial Consultant.

 

Associate Minister – Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, TX (1985-2007)

Assistant Director/Lead Teacher of Wednesday Night Bible Study and Prayer Service, Teacher in Mt. Olive Bible Institute, Assistant Director of Vacation Bible School, and Youth Athletic Director.

 

Coaching Experience

 

Goals-2-Score, Inc. – Founder/Executive Director/Head Coach (1995-present)

In summer of 1995, started the Arlington Magic Select Basketball Club to assist his older son and other players in gaining exposure to earn college basketball scholarships.  Over the years, the program expanded to nine high school teams, one unsigned senior team, and Pro-AM team (college players).  In summer of 2001, Goals-2-Score, Inc. (G2S) was developed as a non-profit organization to support the youth in their efforts to be college basketball players. The G2S Magic Select Basketball Program has been recognized as one of the best in the state of Texas.  Players in this program have earned scholarships to colleges all over the country.

 

Mt. Olive Baptist Church - Youth Athletic Director

Mt. Olive Summer Basketball Program (1989-1997) – Started league for boys and girls, elementary through high school, to provide positive activity for youth during summer months.  The program started with ten players and grew to up to 250 boys and girls.  The program included basketball camps and summer league.

 

Arlington Hornets – Head Coach (1991-1996)

In 1991, started the Arlington Hornets in the Boys Club of Arlington basketball league beginning in the 8 & under league.  Team won the City Championship and North Texas Regional Championship in 1992.  Team moved up to the 10 & under league.  Team won the City Championship and North Texas Regional Championship in 1993.  Team won the City Championship and Semi Finalist in the North Texas Regional Championship in 1994.  During 1992 through 1994, this team won 40 straight games.  Team moved up to 12 & under league.  Team was City Runner-up in 1995 and 1996.

 

Playing Experience

 

Grambling High School, Grambling, LA (1972-1977)

In the 1972-1973 season, he started playing organized basketball and he was the captain and leading scorer of his 8th grade team.  His high school coach, Ray Bratton, recognized his talent and had him practice and play with the junior varsity team also.

 

In the 1973-1974 season, he was a junior varsity starter as a freshman and one of the leading scorers.

 

In the 1974-1975 season, he was a backup guard on the varsity team.  The varsity team finished as district champion and a state semi-finalist.

 

In the 1975-1976 season, he was the starting shooting guard on the varsity team.  He was one of the leading scorers.  The varsity team finished as district champion and a state quarter finalist.

 

In the 1976-1977 season, he was the starting shooting guard on the varsity team.  He was the leading scorer at 16.3 points per game.  He shot 56% from the field and 75% from the free throw line.  The team finished as district champion and state runner-up.  He earned Co-MVP of the district.  His coach described him as “The Best Kept Secret In North Louisiana”.

 

He chose not to play college basketball in order to concentrate on his studies and participate in Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band.

 

Other Interest

 

Earned scholarship to play trumpet in the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band in 1977.  As a freshman, he earned the position to be one of eight 1st trumpet players.  As a sophomore, he earned the position of Section Leader of the Trumpets.

 

As a junior and senior, he earned a scholarship to play in the Orchestra and Jazz Band.

 

He has played with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Male Chorus and Senior Choir.  He has played the national anthem on several occasions for the Bowie High School basketball team.

 

He currently plays trumpet in the Horns of Praise at Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie, TX.
